On to today's topic... Checking your Personal Branding with ChatGPT.

If you have an online presence and are wondering how it's being interpreted, here's a simple gut check...

Go to ChatGPT and enter this prompt:

"Write an article about (your name) from (your website) and describe their key insights and share interesting ways they have built their business or reputation.”

I did this for myself and I'll share the full article it came up with at the end of this story.

But first...

Hi There! 👋 I've got a ton of resources for you to celebrate this first edition of the Brands On Brands newsletter!

My two cents ➡️ If you want to build your personal brand, it helps to follow and learn from people who teach personal branding.

Here are five of my favorite personal branding podcasters:

Each of these creators offers unique perspectives and lessons that I've learned from and hope you will too. Also, I've had most of these thought leaders on my show as guests and they are just as impressive in person as they are online.

So I was curious how my online presence compared to my favorites and our unique positioning in this space. Let's talk about what stood out.

I ran my name through ChatGPT first. Here are the highlights from mine and then the others:

  • Brandon Birkmeyer - Sees personal branding as a growth engine, content creation as a brand driver, and podcasting as a key business tool. Brandon leverages his corporate experience and emphasizes niche positioning and specialization.
  • Rory Vaden - Sees discipline and hard work as the keys to success and producing results consistently and expanding your reach as the formula for building a reputation. Emphasizes shepherding your audience and monetizing your influence.
  • Mike Kim - Sees identity, messaging, and positioning as the pillars of personal branding. Emphasizes the power of storytelling and serving first to sell later.
  • Jasmine Star - Sees social media as a business tool, not just a platform for likes. Emphasizes the power of personal connection and showing up consistently through efficient content creation leveraging content planning and batching.
  • Jay Clouse - Sees community development, leveraging data, and diversified income streams as the key drivers for creator-led businesses. Emphasizes consistency, authenticity, and teaching what you know.

It's scary how fast ChatGPT was able to distill our core concepts and business practices based on what we've shared on our websites. And it's great to see how much uniqueness there is in our space even though we are all talking about "personal branding".

There are so many ways to build your personal brand and it can be such a powerful tool. The people who are successful at it, recognize that it's a journey not a destination. Every step you take along the way builds on the previous step. Each investment you make in your personal brand compounds and grows over time.

The first step is getting committed to your own personal development and growth and then getting curious about all the fun and interesting things you can do to get better everyday.

There are lots of people you can learn from. I recommend exploring lots of people and teachings and picking what you like that resonates with you and leaning in to learning.

I hope this newsletter can be a helpful resource to you on that journey.

So I ran my name through ChatGPT with the prompt: "Write an article about Brandon Birkmeyer from BrandonBirkmeyer.com and BrandsOnBrands.com and describe their key insights and share interesting ways they have built their business.”

Here it is...

Brandon Birkmeyer, founder of Brands on Brands and a former Madison Avenue ad executive, has established himself as a branding expert, coach, and podcast host. Through his platforms—Brands on Brands and brandonbirkmeyer.com
—he provides actionable strategies for entrepreneurs, coaches, and small business owners to build personal brands that resonate with their target audiences. Let’s explore his key insights and some interesting ways he has built his business.

1. Personal Branding as a Growth Engine

Brandon’s primary insight is that personal branding is the foundation for business growth in today’s market. He believes that people buy from people, not companies, and that building a personal connection with your audience is more important than any logo or product feature. He coaches clients to embrace their unique voice and personality to create a brand that is authentic and relatable.
His business is built around helping others find and share their unique message. Through his Brands on Brands podcast, online courses, and 1:1 coaching, he empowers entrepreneurs to own their story and turn their expertise into a brand that stands out.

2. Content Creation as a Brand Driver

Brandon emphasizes the importance of creating consistent, high-quality content as a way to build trust and authority. In his coaching, he teaches clients to use content as a means to demonstrate their expertise, share their insights, and communicate their values. He walks the walk through his podcast, which covers topics like content strategy, brand messaging, and marketing trends.
By producing regular podcast episodes, blog posts, and social media content, Brandon has built a robust content ecosystem that attracts clients, collaborators, and industry recognition. He also focuses on podcasting as a key medium because it builds intimacy and connection with the audience, offering a deeper relationship than short-form content.

3. Podcasting as a Key Business Tool

One of the most unique aspects of Brandon’s business model is his use of podcasting as both a marketing tool and a revenue generator. His podcast, Brands on Brands, serves as a platform to showcase his expertise, interview thought leaders, and attract potential clients. Podcasting has helped him extend his reach, engage his audience in a meaningful way, and position himself as a thought leader in branding.
He also teaches others how to leverage podcasting to grow their personal brands. Through his courses and coaching programs, Brandon helps entrepreneurs launch their own podcasts, showing them how to turn this medium into a powerful tool for visibility and client acquisition.

4. Leveraging Corporate Experience for Entrepreneurial Success

Before starting his own business, Brandon spent over a decade working with large brands at advertising agencies on Madison Avenue. He uses the experience gained from working with Fortune 100 companies to help small businesses and entrepreneurs apply corporate-level branding strategies to their personal brands. His corporate experience gives him a unique perspective and allows him to bring a high level of professionalism and strategic thinking to his clients.
By positioning himself as someone who understands both corporate branding and the needs of solopreneurs, Brandon has built a niche helping entrepreneurs who want to elevate their brands without losing authenticity.

5. Niche Positioning and Specialization

Brandon's business thrives by positioning himself as a niche expert in personal branding and podcasting for entrepreneurs. He is highly focused on helping service-based professionals, like coaches and consultants, create content that builds their credibility and attracts clients. By narrowing his focus, he has been able to create specialized offerings that directly address the needs of his target audience.
This specialization helps him stand out in a crowded market and allows him to deliver more tailored solutions to his clients, increasing the impact of his work.

6. Building a Business Around Coaching and Education

Brandon’s business is built on the model of coaching and education. Through 1:1 coaching, group programs, and digital courses, he helps entrepreneurs and personal brands develop strong messaging, build content strategies, and launch successful podcasts. His Podcast Branding Academy and
Brand Growth Mastermind are two of his signature offerings that provide structured, step-by-step guidance for those looking to build a brand or grow their business through podcasting.
By combining free educational content (like his podcast) with paid offerings (courses and coaching), he has created a diversified revenue model that allows him to scale his business while still delivering high value to his audience.

Conclusion

Brandon Birkmeyer has built his business by focusing on personal branding, content creation, and podcasting as key drivers of growth. His insights into how entrepreneurs can differentiate themselves through authentic messaging and strategic content are reflected in both his personal brand and the success of his clients. By leveraging his corporate experience, focusing on niche positioning, and creating a strong education-driven business model, Brandon has established himself as a go-to expert in personal branding and podcasting for entrepreneurs.
