Hey, what’s up? Brandon here! 📅Today I want to explore an intriguing question: What makes a brand memorable in seconds? In the fast-paced world we live in, capturing attention quickly is crucial. Let’s dive into how you can achieve that efficiently. The Importance of Clarity Before diving deep, if you haven't had the chance yet, check out my book "Front and Center Leadership." It's all about how leaders can use personal branding to stand out. Visit brandsonbrands.com/books for more info. For me, on my personal brand journey, a book provided clarity. It solidified my ideas, my opinions, and how I wanted to convey my teachings. Writing a book wasn't my idea. In fact, I resisted the idea when my mentor first gave me the advice to write a book. But it turned out to be very helpful for me. The main way it was helpful was that it forced me to get very clear on my audience, my message, and what I want to be known for. Creating a Memorable Impression Now, let’s talk about creating a memorable personal brand impression. Writing a book isn’t the only way. Think about the old-school brands. Remember their catchy jingles? They stuck with you, didn’t they? If I asked you to recite a famous advertising jingle, odds are you’d have one in mind instantly. Whether it’s “I’m Lovin’ It” from McDonald's or “Like a Good Neighbor, State Farm Is There,” these short, catchy phrases stick with us for years. Why? Because they are clear, concise, and consistent. These are three things that make any brand, including your personal brand, more memorable. Build Your Brand Hook Similarly, you can come up with a personal tagline or jingle. It doesn’t have to be cliché or cheesy, just make it relate to what you do. For example, my show "Brands On Brands" blends with my appearance. The hat I often wear bears the name. It’s catchy, it’s memorable, and it intrigues people. They may not get it immediately, but it sticks. You can create your own unique ways of being memorable with simple wordplay. By using memorable hooks or analogies like "the Batman of branding" or "the Martha Stewart of attention to detail," you create a lasting impression. Identify that catchy, easy-to-understand line or analogy. This isn’t for commercials or websites but understanding what you could mention in conversations to leave a lasting impression. Even everyday roles can be transformed into memorable stories. I have friends who, by embracing their past experiences like being a Disney storyteller, encapsulate their essence easily and memorably. The Power of Clarity in BrandingClarity is often overlooked in personal branding. Many professionals assume they need to be impressive, complex, or say a lot to prove their expertise. But the opposite is true: The clearer your message, the easier it is to remember, and the more likely people are to associate you with your unique expertise. Just like a great advertising jingle, your personal brand should communicate:
If people can’t summarize what you do in a simple sentence, you’re likely losing opportunities. What Jingles Teach Us About Personal Branding1. Simplicity WinsA great jingle is short and easy to repeat. The same goes for your personal brand statement. If your elevator pitch is full of jargon or long-winded explanations, people will tune out. 🔹 Example: Instead of saying, "I help professionals and entrepreneurs maximize their digital footprint to increase thought leadership and audience engagement through scalable content strategies." Try something clearer: "I help experts turn their ideas into content that builds their brand." 2. Repetition Builds RecognitionThe more often you hear a jingle, the more likely it is to stick. Personal branding works the same way. Consistently showing up online, at events, and in conversations with the same core message strengthens your brand’s recognition. 🔹 Example: If you want to be known as the go-to expert on leadership presence, don’t talk about it once and move on. Repeat it in your LinkedIn bio, speaking engagements, and content until people associate you with it. 3. Emotion Creates ConnectionThe best jingles aren’t just words, they make you feel something. Whether it’s nostalgia, trust, or excitement, emotions drive memorability. Your personal brand should tap into this as well. 🔹 Example: Instead of saying, "I help people develop their executive presence," Say, "I help leaders walk into any room and own it." The latter evokes confidence and authority, something your audience feels rather than just understands. Clarity Is Your Competitive AdvantageThe marketplace is crowded, and attention spans are short. If you want to be remembered, you don’t need more complexity, you need more clarity. ✅ Craft a simple, repeatable brand message. ✅ Show up consistently with that message. ✅ Make sure it connects emotionally with your audience. When you do this well, you’ll no longer be just another professional in your field, you’ll be the one people remember. And that’s the power of clarity. 😝Thanks for reading!
